IWC or International Watch Company produced their first IWC watch in 1885. In 1936, IWC began manufacturing watches specially suited for pilots. The first pilot watch ever made was named IWC Mark IX. IWC has, like many other Swiss watch manufacturers collaborated with automotive companies. F.A. Porche and IWC marketed and manufactured together, in 1978, the world's first watch with compass. IWC also later collaborated with another automobile manufacturer, namely Mercedes.
